◇ Just read — no move neededGraduation time. You will play black against the engine at its gentlest level, and everything from this chapter applies at once. Before each move, run the same short litany: do I have a five? does white? do I have a four, or a point that makes one? does white threaten an open three I must cap? Only then play your own plan: grow open twos into open threes, watch every diagonal, and look for the fork — two threes from one stone — before spending stones on a single line. Ten moves minimum; play the opening honestly and the middlegame will teach you the rest.
