Meisei 明星, the 'bright star', is the sharp INDIRECT opening: white's second takes the diagonal, black's third drops two down the centre's own column — first and third stones stare at each other with one empty point between. The character of the positions it produces is mutual attack: neither side can afford pure defence. White's fourth here eyes the row that crosses your column — a live jump pair with the gap waiting to be filled. Answer it the Meisei way: find black's fifth that blocks white's gap AND lines up your own column three in the same breath.
